New lunch option for hungry Te Anau tradies

Food Stop owner Dawn Maher's newly opened food bar is catering to the hungry crowd inside Te Anau's industrial park.

Tradies working in Te Anau's industrial park just got a convenient new breakfast and lunch option with the recent opening of Food Stop.

Owner Dawn Maher said it took her more than a year to decide whether to go through with the idea of offering classic breakfast and lunch takeaway options in Te Anau's industrial park.

She said she saw a market to give local workers a place to eat that was within walking distance, alongside a bit of family pressure to go for it.

Her "Food Stop" opened last week in Caswell Road. Even with little advertising, Ms Maher said she had already had a steady stream of customers pop by through lunchtime.

Ms Maher has previous food industry experience, including being the dessert chef at the Luxmore Hotel.
She said she just enjoyed cooking for people, and over time she would like to offer as much homemade food as possible at her new operation.
